Six of the eight River Parish teams have qualified for the girls’ state basketball playoffs.
A District 7-5A rematch in the second round could take place should Hahnville and East St. John win their opening-round contests.
Hahnville, the No. 7 seed in Class 5A, will host No. 26 West Ouachita. Meanwhile, No. 23 East St. John is at Denham Springs, the No. 10 seed.
Opening-round games for the non-select playoff are slated for Thursday.
St. James made the Class 3A playoffs as the No. 25 seed and will travel to Brusly, the No. 8 seed. The winner of the game advances to take on the winner of contest between No. 9 Loranger and No. 24 Abbeville.
West St. John narrowly missed out on hosting a first-round playoff game in the Class 1A bracket. The Lady Rams, the No. 17 seed, will play at Plain Dealing, the No. 16 seed.
In the select bracket, St. Charles Catholic, the No. 5 seed, will host No. 12 McGehee in Division III. The winner will face the victor of the game between No. 13 Ascension Episcopal and Northlake Christian, the No. 4 seed.
Riverside Academy qualified for the Division IV playoffs as the No. 12 seed and will travel to take on Highland Baptist, the No. 5 seed. The winner will take on the winner of the contest between Hanson Memorial, the No. 13 seed, and No. 4 Cedar Creek.
First-round games in the select playoffs are scheduled for February 24.
