There was no shortage of talent on-hand for the 3rd annual “Festgiving” series of games this past Thanksgiving holiday, and VSN Louisiana dropped by on the final day to check out some of the action.
The last four games of the event organized by SouthHoopFests featured Landry-Walker vs. Salmen, East Ascension vs. Booker T. Washington, Crescent City vs. Bossier and Bonnabel vs. Walker.
The Chargin’ Bucs got the win, 54-51, with junior guard Jamond Vincent leading the way with 27 points while junior guard Devon Lizana had 22 for the Spartans.
East Ascension pulled off a huge comeback win, 63-60, over Booker T. after being down 49-30 with under three minutes left in the third. Senior guard Trevion Joseph hit the game-winning three-pointer for EA with just one second left on the clock, which was his second triple of the fourth quarter in a 16-point effort.
Junior Camryn Carter led the way with 17 while senior Hobert Grayson IV scored 15. Sophomore forward Kyran Ratliff led BTW with 15, senior Shapaca Smith scored 11 and sophomore Christian Ferguson had 14 including four 3-pointers, all of which came in the third quarter.
Crescent City and Bossier also found themselves in a close battle that went in favor of the Pioneers, 66-64. Senior point guard Byron Joshua scored a team-high 25 points for Crescent City including 14 in the fourth while Jordin Farrell and Kurt LaBeaud both added 10 each.
UNO commit Dante Bell scored 15 for Bossier with two huge dunks while seniors Tim King and Otis Smith finished with 16 and 13, respectively.
In the final game, Bonnabel blew by LSU commit Jalen Cook and Walker, 72-56. Senior guard Tyron Williams and junior point guard Theo Johnson both scored 19 for the Bruins while Cook poured in 36 for Walker including 22 of the team’s 26 points in the first half.
