It appears as Hahnville is hiring from within to lead its football program.
Multiple sources confirmed to VSN Louisiana on Saturday morning Hahnville offensive coordinator Daniel Luquet has been promoted to head coach to replace Nick Saltaformaggio, who took the same position at his alma mater, Holy Cross, on April 1.
Official word is expected Wednesday (May 20) at the St. Charles Parish Public Schools Board Meeting, which will be held virtually.
Luquet, 37, becomes just the third Tigers football coach in two decades, following Saltaformaggio and current Shaw assistant Lou Valdin, who went a combined 247-107 with 20 consecutive playoff appearances.
This will be the second head coaching stint for Luquet, who was 18-25 in four seasons at Baton Rouge-Woodlawn. He also was an assistant there for one season and an assistant for six seasons at his alma mater, Destrehan.
As a player, Luquet was the Wildcats’ quarterback in 2001, throwing 24 touchdown passes, leading the team to a 10-0 regular season record.
